Ban Cruel Fur Imports Into Britain
Target: Andrea Leadsom, Leader of the House of Commons
Goal: Stop importing fur from animals raised in misery and cruelly put to death.
Members of Parliament (MPs) have called for a ban on all real fur importation into Britain in a House of Commons report. Annually, more than 130 million animals suffer in the fur trade worldwide. A lot of the fur trade animals in countries such as the U.S., Poland, China, and France are reportedly kept in tiny and overstuffed cages for the entirety of their short lives, and then are ultimately gassed or electrocuted to death.
Britain has led the worldwide movement towards restricting the fur trade by banning fur farming nationwide. A UK government poll showed that more than two-thirds of UK residents support a UK fur import ban.
Sign this petition to encourage Britain to ban all fur importation into the country. A fur-free Britain may encourage other nations to follow suit in putting an end to animals’ horrendous suffering in the fur trade.
Dear Rt Hon Leadsom,
Britain has done much to improve animal welfare in the fur trade industry by banning fur farming in 2000, and the recent calls for a ban on all fur importation into Britain are quite commendable.
I urge you to please work to ban the importation of fur into Britain. The fur trade is a completely unnecessary and evil business that should not be in existence. Achieving a fur-free Britain will not only help end the horrendous suffering of animals in the fur trade, but will also encourage other nations to follow suit in ending the despicable fur trade in their countries.
